Is somatic coaching effective for trauma?
Yes, my coaching education includes my ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing which is extremely effective in supporting trauma recovery. It is based on the understanding that trauma can be stored in the body and can manifest as physical tension, pain, or emotional overwhelm. Somatic experiencing helps unravel and re-pattern the bodies stored trauma and responses, allowing the nervous system to discover a state with more safety, flexibility, curiosity, and ability to be with all of your human experience, both pleasant and unpleasant.
Will I have to relive past traumas in sessions?
While somatic experiencing can involve exploring past experiences, the goal is not to force you to relive traumatic memories in a painful way. In fact, I spend a lot of time tracking and learning micro shifts in your nervous system and body language in our private sessions to prevent a potentially re-traumatizing experience from occurring. Instead, my style of coaching focuses on helping you become more aware of your body’s responses and sensations related to past events, and and re-pattern those sensations. This allows for healing and release without overwhelming you or with the need to re-experience an overwhelming amount of the trauma. Somatic Experiencing is unique in that you don't even have to have a memory of the stressful event to process it, we can work with the body no matter what the mind may or may not remember.
How do I know if somatic coaching is right for me?

It can also be particularly helpful if you experience physical symptoms related to stress, trauma, or anxiety (such as chronic pain, tension, or fatigue).
