Qigong (pronounced "chee-gong") is the practice of working with qi, the body's vital energy. Rooted in ancient Chinese traditions with shamanic origins, it has evolved into the modern movement, breath, and energetic branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Also spelled "chi gong," this practice combines gentle movement, breath, and intention to cultivate, gather, and balance the body's vital energy, restoring a fresh essence of aliveness. I primarily teach and study medical qigong, a style of qigong focused on healing and wellness, and I have spent several years deeply engaged in the practice.
This practice has been truly life-saving for me. After a difficult experience in which I pushed too far with plant medicine in an attempt to heal and deepen my connection with myself and the universe, I found myself in desperate need of grounded and advanced energetic support. I was navigating a traumatic spiritual emergency and awakening, and it was the integration of qigong and somatic work that brought me back to earth in whole and boundaried way. I would not be here today without both practices, each offering unique strengths that weave together in a profoundly beautiful way. It is an honor to share this work, and I am deeply grateful to my healer, teacher, and mentor who continues to guide me on this path.
I teach qigong by guiding people into a mindful awareness of their somatic experience, helping them attune to both the physical and subtle body. This approach allows people to quickly develop the ability to sense their qi and connect with the energy within and around them. Once this connection begins to click, it can be truly magical, it can be the start of a beautiful practice and a new way of being with yourself in the world. By strengthening both intuitive and somatic awareness in a sustainable and grounded way, my approach supports energetic and spiritual hygiene, clearer boundaries in all dimensions, and a deeply felt understanding of how emotional energy is held in the body. My goal is to empower individuals to navigate their own energy with clarity, confidence, and practical skill.
I have the ability to both sense and visually perceive the qi of my clients. This allows me to attune to their bodies in a way that is uncommon, even among somatic practitioners. I can often identify where energy, emotions, or trauma may be stuck. By blending this refined intuitive ability with my formal training, I tailor each session to support your unique healing journey in a deeply personalized way.
In my one-on-one qigong sessions, I assess the physical, energetic, and spiritual qualities of your groundedness, your connection to source energy, the flow of your qi, and the clarity of your connection to your higher self, which can be indirectly translated to as the Shen in Chinese Medicine, the essence of you sourced from the divine. I may also perceive the presence of spiritual support around you or identify toxic qi held within your body or energy field. These assessments can be done both in person and online.
Depending on your needs, I may offer personalized qigong exercises, guided boundary development, energy clearing, and specific recommendations to support greater harmony and flow in your life. I am currently in my fourth year of apprenticeship training to offer more refined energetic treatments, and I will share updates when I am ready to provide those services. 1:1 Qigong sessions are available to my clients who are dedicated to a personal practice several times a week outside of session time to properly maintain their qi cultivation and development.
Outside of experiential practice, I recommend this book: Follow Your Tao: A Simple Guide to Balancing Your Energy for Inner Harmony by Stephanie Nosco as a very beginner friendly introduction to Taoism, Medical Qigong, and Traditional Chinese Medicine for those that come from a western mindset and are brand new to all of these concepts.
