"I haven’t reached for my anxiety medication once since I started her Qigong classes! Not even on airplanes or at the dentist, which used to be big triggers for me. It’s remarkable. I was chatting with a few other folks from class, and we all agreed we all sleep the best on the Wednesday nights of our Qigong class. These classes have helped me feel more connected and at ease in my body than I have in years!"
"Janell’s work has helped me turn my pain into a deeper sense of safety and nurturing within my body. Living with CPTSD, I have always struggled to connect with my body. Her sessions have given me the space to move beyond just understanding my trauma to actually feeling and connecting the healing dots to my body and my energies. Her non-judgmental presence and the way she holds space make it so easy to really open up and truly be supported while raw and vulnerable."
"Taking Qi Gong classes with Janell has been a truly unexpected transformative experience. Each session leaves me with fresh insights and a deeper sense of healing. Janell brings a profound depth of knowledge to her teaching, which she shares through clear, thoughtful explanations and demonstrations. She skillfully builds each class by layering concepts in a way that feels both accessible and enriching. What sets her apart is her intuitive connection with participants. She actively seeks input and adapts with remarkable flexibility, creating a space that feels both supportive personally and for the group as a whole. I could go on and on about all the wonderful things she brings to share and teach!"
"I always thought energy stuff was too out there for me, but I always leave her classes with more experiences that make me want to open my mind to things I never considered before. It feels wonderful to have a curiosity about something new at my age. I find myself really looking forward to our weekly classes and how good I feel after."
"I didn't realize how much I had been blocking myself off from receiving and now much my body was possible of healing. Janell also has a way of saying what feels like the exact thing I need to hear at the perfect time. I wish I had tried this years ago! "
"As someone with Autism I appreciated that I wasn't pathologized, my request were always meet warmly, there were tons of options and invitations to try things the way I wanted or modify them to fit my comfort level. I felt empowered in a way I usually don't with most therapist or in society."
"I had lovingly renovated a home and found that when a challenging tenant moved out, it left behind a dense, unsettling energy that made the space feel heavy and weird. Janell offered to rebalance the qi in the affected bedroom. I didn’t know what qi was, or how it worked, I just knew the space I loved felt really off. As she worked, I could actually feel the shift from across the house, and within minutes the heaviness lifted. The room transformed back into a space that felt light, peaceful, and welcoming again. I don’t know how it works, or why, but the shift was undeniable, and I’m grateful for it."
Soma speaks to the body and the deep intelligence held within your physical form.

What is Qigong?
Qigong, or chi gong, (pronounced "chee-gong"), is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine that combines gentle movement, breath, and meditation to work with vital energy.
Qi means energy, and Gong means skillful work, so qigong is the art of working skillfully with your own life force. It's one of those things that have to be directly experienced to truly begin to understand it, like being in love or the heaviness of grief. Even after a single qigong class, I often notice a shift where people’s eyes soften, brighten, and look more comfortably connected in the here and now. Imagine what becomes possible when that buildable energy is cultivated through regular practice, filling and nourishing you consistently.
Qigong practice is often grouped into three main categories: Medical, Martial (such as Tai Chi), and Spiritual. Within these, there are countless lineages and styles, all supporting the health of the body, mind, and spirit in their own ways. I primarily teach Medical Qigong, which focuses on improving health and healing.
To me, qigong is like pouring nourishing, cleansing, and calming fuel into an empty or chaotic emotional tank. What might feel easier to move through in your life if you had more life force to support you?
How is this different from therapy?
Somatic coaching and Qigong can be incredibly healing and transformative, however they are not therapy and do not replace it. My work does not offer psychological assessment, mental health diagnosis, treatment planning, or prescription of any medication. I am also not able to accept insurance.
My work guides you discover the innate healing wisdom your body, energy, and spirit naturally holds. Through somatic and qigong practices, you’ll deepen your self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and vibrant wholeness. Instead of working through the lens of a diagnosis or label, we will discover how that is showing up in your body and find improved tangible ways to help your body accomplish it's goals beyond talking or cognitive understanding alone. It can be a beautiful compliment to whatever healing approaches are currently working for you, or to add an embodied integration to what you may be exploring in talk therapy or other inner work.
I currently may not be the best fit for you if:
You are in the early phases of trauma recovery or experiencing unstable mental or physical symptoms that make daily functioning difficult.
You are currently in or freshly out of an abusive relationship with yourself or others. If you are actively struggling with self-harm, an unmanaged severe eating disorder, chaotic cycles of addiction, or problematic substance use, my offerings independently may not be what fits your needs best at this time.
You are in an active crisis state or in significant distress and looking for a rescue or a magical quick fix that would bypass internal work.
You do not have the space, time, resources, support, or stability needed to prioritize healing or growth right now. Your well-being and capacity comes first.
If any of this resonates, I lovingly encourage you to seek support from a therapist, social worker, doctor, naturopath, psychotherapist, and/or clinical psychologist who can provide the level of care you deserve. I would not want our work together to delay or sidestep other care that would be of greater benefit to you first.
That said, I’m here when you’re ready.
If you’re managing stable-enough symptoms, in the later stages of recovery, and have some stabilizing healing work under your belt, I can work alongside your therapist and/or doctor as part of your healing team.
If you’re not quite sure whether we are the right fit at this time, you’re welcome to book a free connection call and we can figure it out together.
